COVID Vaccine Workplace Guidance

January 15, 2021

Hot button topic alert! Not my favorite thing to write about, but it needs to be addressed so you can make the decision that is best for you and your business. So, here it comes. Deep breath. The COVID vaccine. Should you make it mandatory for your employees?

Legally, you can make it mandatory for your employees to get the vaccine before returning to work. Let’s assume you decide to go that route and look at the things that you need to consider. You will need to put clear policies and procedures in place once you have decided the best route for your business.

If you are going to require the vaccine, you need to be prepared for employees to say no. You will need to familiarize yourself with their refusal rights, understand how a refusal affects your policy, and know what you can do if an employee refuses.

You will also need to decide how the vaccine will be administered: will it be done at the workplace (by you or will you bring in a 3rd party?) or will the employee do it on their own (and will you then want some kind of proof? What does that look like?)

Do you need help deciding what is best for your workplace? I can help guide you through the legalities of it all. If you do decide you want to mandate the vaccine, I can also help draft your policies and procedures. Give me a call or send me an email!
