GOVERNOR EVERS ANNOUNCES INCREASED FUNDING FOR SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS

October 12, 2020

It feels like way too long since I have started a blog this way, but I finally get to say, “Here’s some good news!” For those who live in the cheese state anyway. Last week Governor Evers announced an additional $109 million in grants for Wisconsin small businesses who have been hurt by the pandemic.

This includes $20 million for the hotel industry, $15 million for live event venues (including $15 million for a previously existing grant program benefitting nonprofit cultural venues), $10 million for privately owned movie theaters, $4 million for a grant program announced in September aimed at tourism businesses, and, finally (and most importantly for many of us) an additional $50 million addition for the WEDC “We’re All In” grant program.

This grant program will award $5,000 to an additional 10,000 small businesses, including businesses that previously received grants when the program was first announced in June. Priority will be given to businesses most impacted by the pandemic including restaurants, taverns, hair and nail salons, barber shops, and other services.

Applications for this grant will open October 19th and remain open until November 2nd. Need a refresher on eligibility and what you will need to apply? Check out my blog from June.
